CBS-MDRC Programme by Management Experts


Kolkata: Calcutta Business School, a premier B-school of Kolkata, has lined up a couple of management development programmes for executives at its Management Development Centre. The programmes are aimed at equipping the practising executives with the management tools and views to carry out their day to day business in a seamless manner.

The first one-day programme - ‘Quality Management Tools and Techniques for Business Excellence’ - was flagged off by experts from Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and Calcutta Business School. Mr P K Maitra, Sr Vice Chairman, QCFI (Kolkata Chapter) and former Director, Ordnance Factory Board, is the programme director. The programme was inaugurated by Mr A K Verma, Chairman cum Managing Director, Garden Reach Shipbuilders &Engineers Ltd (GRSE).

The second two-day programme - ‘Managing Stress at Workplace’ - shall be held on May 4-5, 2012. It will be conducted by Programme Directors, Prof (Dr) B.L.Dubey from University of Alaska, Anchorage, USA and Dr Atri Roy Sengupta, Faculty, Calcutta Business School, and assisted by domain experts.

The programme on Quality Management Tools is entirely case study and workshop based and will focus on quality tools to ensure overall business excellence through continuous improvements in all spheres of operations and cost reduction in an organisation. Participants shall be encouraged to bring cases from their own organisations to analyse and find solutions by application of tools and techniques learnt during the workshop. Quality tools and techniques can be used in any type of organisation - manufacturing, service, health care and education.

The second two-day programme on ‘Managing Stress at Workplace’ is again a case study and workshop based programme where the participants shall be exposed to assess conscious and unconscious stress and shall be equipped with various advanced tools and techniques with a view to gainfully manage stress at workplace. This is a very contemporary subject as researches in organizations reveal that productivity and innovativeness of an organization is directly related to the level of conscious and unconscious stress developed in an organization during its day to day work schedule.

Prof (Dr) B L Dubey is an adjunct faculty in the Department of Psychology, University of Alaska, Anchorage, USA and is a world renowned specialist in the field of stress management and in the application of Somatic Inkblot Series and Hypnosis. He has conducted workshops on stress management on various parts of the world such as Boston, San Francisco, New London City, Chicago, Toronto, Geneva, Amsterdam, Sydney, Singapore, etc to name a few. “This programme is unique in nature as it shall tell the participants as well as the workgroups about their own conscious and unconscious stress levels and the techniques for management of the same.” – said Dr Atri Roy Sengupta, Ph.D, from Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kharagpur and faculty, CBS, who is also the Co—Programme Director

Management Development & Research Centre (MDRC) of Calcutta Business School has lined up as many as approx 50 such programmes on contemporary issues during the period April 2012 to March 2013 in the areas of Strategic Management, Marketing and Retail Management, Valuation Management, Financial Management, Information Technology Management, etc based on researches undertaken by the centre on the specific needs of the Indian industries.
