EXERCISE BOLD KURUKSHETRA

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Indian Army (IA) are conducting the Eighth Bilateral Exercise code named “BOLD KURUKSHETRA” at Babina, in Central India from 01 to 30 Mar 2012. More than 750 soldiers from SAF and Indian Army are participating in this exercise.

As part of the exercise, the two armies are conducting joint planning, training as well as executing integrated manoeuvres. The exercise also includes Integrated Live Firing of Infantry Combat Vehicles, Tanks and Mortars.

Chief of Staff (General Staff) and Chief Armour Officer of SAF witnessed the live firing and interacted with IA and SAF troops during the exercise. General VK Singh, Chief of the Army Staff, also visited the troops taking part in the exercise.




“Exercise BOLD KURUKSHETRA” is held annually and underscores the warm and growing defence relationship between Singapore and India. Aside from joint exercises, the IA and SAF also interact regularly through visits, courses, seminars and other professional exchanges.

India-Singapore relations are multifaceted and founded on historical linkages. The exercise is expected to further cement the defence relationship and add impetus to the ongoing defence cooperation. Maintenance of enhanced military to military contacts is mutually beneficial to the strategic interests of both the countries.
