Coal Ministers Meets Coal Mines Officers Association to Redress their Grievances.

Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Minister of Coal met the representatives of Coal Mines Officers Association of India (CMOI) here today. Shri Alok Perti, Secretary, Coal, Shri N.C. Jha, Chairman, Coal India Ltd. and other senior officials were also present during the meeting. The CMOAI raised the issues relating to assured career progression including timely promotions, payment of Performance Related Pay (PRP), revised pension scheme, post retirement medical benefit scheme etc. They were informed that the matter of grant of PRP is under consideration of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and it would be taken up with them for expeditious disposal. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd. has been advised to consider payment of lumpsum recoverable advance to the executives.

The Minister directed the CIL management to take necessary steps, including policy mofification by Board of Directors by next month to ensure smooth career progress of the officers. Regarding the stay on promotions of certain category of officers by the Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata, the Association was informed that in the event of verdict not being pronounced by the Hon’ble High Court on 31st October, 2011, when the case is listed for judgement, the CIL would explore the possibility of moving the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India to get the stay vacated. Regarding the proposed new pension scheme, it was directed that the Ministry would expedite the approval.

Coal Minister appealed to the Officers community to strive hard and make up for the production loss to surpass the target for “Excellent” rating so as to arrest the negative growth of the company. The Minister stated that he would review the performance of CIL again in December and hope that all-round improvement will be recorded by that time. The CMOAI assured the Minister that they would rise to the occasion and take all necessary steps to ensure that they exceed the excellent MOU target as desired by the Minister.
