Kolkata, 16th March 2011,: With a focus on financial literacy for women, Millennium Mams’ Celebrates  its 18th year, since inception.  Millennium Mams' is a voluntary non-profit organization that believes in women empowerment. This NGO was founded by Mr. Bishnu Dhanuka and Mr. Sanjay Bhuwania in 1994 in Kolkata. Its aim is to provide women with the opportunity to understand the intricacies of the economic environment and create the confidence to manage their financial affairs - both personal and business.

Over 800 Women, who have the urge to enhance their knowledge about the current global economic scenario have benefited from this forum. The organization has now spread its wings to Bangalore and Mumbai.

Many of the students, past and present, have chosen to be entrepreneurs after joining the organization. To honour this talent, this year Millennium Mams’ has chosen to give an award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship to Shradha Saraf, a former student who now owns and runs Cherry Tree, a company that brings some of the biggest labels in the fashion industry to Kolkata.

The Annual Event will also showcase the creativity of our first year students who have prepared audiovisuals on topics as varied as “Creativity and Success’, ‘India and China’, ‘Greed is back- Greed is good?’ and ‘India’s -next Trillion $’s”.

The event will be attended by over 700 Women - a gathering of one of its kind in Kolkata and probably the country.

This year we took this initiative to schools and had a workshop with the students of Laxmipat Singhania, Kolkata.

Millennium Mams’ achieve empowerment through a multipronged approach with classroom sessions, group discussions, interactions with industry experts, projects and field visits.

The topics covered include the macro-economy subjects such as GDP, inflation, budgetary matters, international developments, corporate governance, taxation, monetary policy, politics, global warming and other current issues. To round it off the basics of accounting as well as balance sheet reading are also taught.

Book Club- A new initiative currently focused on the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”.
