Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure pays tribute to Rio Tinto’s iconic coloured diamonds
Perth, January 23, Rio Tinto’s coloured diamonds from its Argyle mine in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia were the highlight of the finale of Oprah Winfrey’s Ultimate Australian Adventure. The finale show, aired across the US and Australia this week, was taped in December in front of an audience of 6000 at Sydney’s Opera House.

Argyle diamonds were showcased both on stage and off stage with each of the 6000 strong audience member receiving a limited edition Australian Colours “O” necklace featuring seven Argyle diamonds including a pink diamond.

The East Kimberley region of Western Australia is one of the last wilderness regions in the world, and the Argyle Diamond Mine is the largest source of coloured diamonds, including whites, champagnes, cognacs, blues, greens and the rarest of all, the pink diamond.

According to Jean-Marc Lieberherr, General Manager for the sales and marketing of Rio Tinto’s diamonds, “We were delighted to take part in the 25th and finale season of the Oprah Winfrey Show, which also coincides with 25 years of diamond production from the Argyle mine. The Australian Colours necklace is a special piece of jewellery that reflects a special moment in time and we are thrilled that Oprah’s guests at the finale show will have this momento.”

With an ever increasing presence on the world stage, and the associated celebrity endorsement, demand for Rio Tinto’s coloured diamonds continues to increase.
