24 SAIL employees to receive Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for year 2008

 New Delhi: “It is a matter of pride for all of us that 24 out of 52 awardees are from SAIL, in the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2008, announced on 14th August.  This is a recognition of the  dedication and commitment of SAIL collective to organizational excellence,”, stated Mr C.S. Verma, Chairman SAIL while congratulating SAIL collective during the Independence Day celebrations of the company held at SAIL Corporate Office, Lodi Road yesterday. Of the 24 awardees, 6 were conferred with with Shram Vir award (from SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant), while 18 with the Shram Shree awards (from SAIL, Bhilai Steel Plant). The achievement assumes added significance considering the fact that from the public sector, there are 35 awardees in all, rest 17 are from the private sector.

Constituted by the Government of India, these awards are given in recognition of distinguished performance, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind. Last year, in Shram Awards for the year 2007, SAIL employees had won 21 awards.

At the Independence day celebrations, Mr. Verma unfurled the national flag and witnessed a cultural programme presented by children of SAIL family to commemorate national unity and diversity. In his address to the employees, Mr. Verma exhorted them to resolve to work for a bright future of the company and contribute to nation building. He expressed confidence that SAIL would become a global player with the concerted efforts of all the employees.
