Christian Klingler and Rupert Stadler to join Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft

Contract renewal for Dr. Horst Neumann, Board member for Human Resources Detlef Wittig to manage international investment projects

Wolfsburg, November 20, 2009 – The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft has appointed Christian Klingler (41) and Rupert Stadler (46) to the Group Board of Management effective January 1, 2010 and has renewed the contract of Dr. Horst Neumann (60). Neumann is the member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft responsible for Human Resources and Organization. Stadler is to join the Group Board of Management in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG. Klingler will become the Board member for Sales. He will also continue in his present post as member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen brand with responsibility for Sales, Marketing and After Sales. Detlef Wittig (67), currently Executive Vice President, Group Sales and Marketing, willassume responsibility for managing the Group’s international investment projects.

 

Christian Klingler was born in Innsbruck, Austria. Having graduated from the University of Innsbruck with a degree in business studies, Klingler held responsibility at Porsche Inter Auto (Austria) for setting up import and retail networks in regions such as Slovakia and the USA. From 1995, he headed growth projects at Porsche Holding Österreich and was responsible for establishing activities on the French market. In 1998, he became a member of the Board of Management of the PGA Group, an international sales partner for many different automobile brands in Europe headquartered in Paris, and was appointed its chairman in 2002. Klingler was a member of the Board of Management of Porsche Holding Österreich from 2004 to 2008, before being appointed to the Board of Management of the Volkswagen brand.

 

Rupert Stadler was born in Titting (Bavaria). He studied business management, financing, banking and investment in Augsburg. After graduating in business management, he started his career at Philips Kommunikation Industrie AG in Nuremberg. In 1990, he joined Audi AG in Ingolstadt, where he assumed various controlling tasks in the sales and marketing area. In 1994, Stadler was appointed Commercial Director at Volkswagen/Audi España SA, Barcelona. In this capacity, he was responsible for controllership, accounts, human resources and organization. From 1997, Stadler was Head of the Board of Management’s Office for the Volkswagen Group and, from January 2002, also Head of Group Product Planning. He became the Audi AG Board Member responsible for the Finance and Organization Division in 2003. He has been Chairman of the Board of Management since January 1, 2007.

 

Horst Neumann was born in Leverkusen. He studied economics and social science in Hamburg and Berlin and was awarded the title Dr. rel. pol. Following posts as assistant to the Berlin Senator for Economic Affairs and as a senior manager in the economics department at the board of the IG Metall union, he was a member of the board of management and personnel director at Rasselstein GmbH and Rasselstein Hoesch GmbH from 1994 to 2000. In 2001, Neumann was appointed member of the board of management at ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG. In July 2002, he became the member of the Board of Management of Audi AG with responsibility for Human Resources. The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft appointed him as a member of the Group Board of Management on December 1, 2005.

 

Detlef Wittig was born in Magdeburg, and studied economics in Brunswick and business in Göttingen. The business administration graduate was the Volkswagen Group’s Area Manager in France, the Resident Representative in Japan and Chairman of Volkswagen Canada Inc. He was appointed member of the Board of Management with responsibility for Sales and Marketing at Škoda Auto a.s. in 1995, becoming Deputy Chairman of the company in 1997. He moved to become board member with responsibility for sales and marketing at the Volkswagen brand in 2000, returning to Škoda as Chairman in 2004. Wittig took over responsibility for Volkswagen Group Sales and Marketing in October 2007.
