Sinosteel Midwest appoints Geraldton-based Operations Manager

Sinosteel Midwest has bolstered its regional team with the appointment of Phil Allsopp as Operations Manager.
Based in Geraldton, Mr Allsopp brings with him more than 25 years experience in the resources industry in Western Australia, Tasmania and Queensland.
In his role as Operations Manager, Mr Allsopp is responsible for the leadership, direction and performance of Sinosteel Midwest’s iron ore operations, ore haulage and port operations in the Mid West region. He joins a team of five people based in the Mid West region.
CEO Brian Oliver said Mr Allsopp is a great addition to their growing team.
“Mr Allsopp brings hands-on management for our projects and has a strong track record of bringing new projects into production and establishing operational discipline and performance.
“The coming months are particularly important for the Company as we prepare to commence development of the Koolanooka and Blue Hills mining projects, so the on-the-ground support Mr Allsopp will provide in Geraldton will be critical,” Mr Oliver said.
Mr Allsopp said he had hit the ground running.
“Sinosteel Midwest is one of the largest land holders with the biggest Direct Shipping Ore project base in the Mid West, so I’m looking forward to working with the team and the community to develop sustainable iron ore operations in the region.
“Over the coming months, part of my role will include building on our existing team to ensure we’re well positioned to operate our projects as they come online,” Mr Allsopp said.
The Koolanooka and Blue Hills mining projects are located 190 kms south east of Geraldton. Development of the projects is scheduled to commence in Quarter 3, 2009 subject to government approvals.
